•Hunger motivates everyone, saving face does not.
•Some aspects of motivation are true of every human on the planet, other aspects of motivation are very specific to cultures.
Module 12: Emotions
•Cultures vary widely in the number of emotions they have words for.
•Cultures vary widely in the intensity with which they express & experience emotions.
Module 13: Cognition & Perception
•People in different cultures just do not think the same.
•We categorize differently, organize differently, remember differently….
Module 14: Morality, Religion, & Justice
•Kohlberg’s model of moral development is the gold standard in Western psychology, but it does not apply well to non-western samples.
•The CAD model will be explored to help understand moral reasoning that might not make sense to a westerner.
Module 15: Living in Multicultural World
•Acculturation is an incredibly important part of mental health & well-being for immigrants.
•Multicultural experience has amazing effects on us as non-immigrants as well.
